New Zealand rock, mineral and fossil samples for studying geology, earth processes and evolution of plants and animals.

Within each listing use the dropdown menu to select the specimen size:

Small — Dimensions: Roughly 2.5 × 2.5 cm to 4.0 × 4.0 cm. Purpose: Affordable, pocket-sized pieces ideal for classroom laboratory kits, hands-on student experiments (such as streak and hardness testing) and will fit easily into small storage trays.
Hand — Dimensions: Roughly 4 × 6 cm to 7 × 11 cm. Purpose: Comfortably fill the user's palm. Provide clear textural details and mineral structures, making them ideal for teacher demos, lectures, and prominent display trays
Shelf — Dimensions: Roughly 8 × 12 cm or greater. Bulky, substantial pieces for display and visibility from a distance.

Care of your rocks

Your rocks will arrive packaged and labelled. For long term care, try to prevent different types of rocks from rubbing on each other, e.g. by using a box with compartments, or just keep them wrapped or packaged separately. Keep labels with the rocks, or, label the rocks themselves with numbers keyed to a master sheet.
